The Junior Youth Empowerment Programme at Mona School has been developed for enhancing the spiritual and moral capacities of the Junior Youth, while preparing them to participate actively in the affairs of their communities and render service to them. The program helps the students, especially in the class Sixth to Ninth , to foster their understanding of concepts and develop their qualities, skills and attitudes essential for service to mankind.

Rather than presenting rules that define moral behavior along with instructions on how to apply them, its aims is to engage students in a process that awakens in them an inner sense of moral purpose. Empowerment results when an individual recognizes his or her true reality and is consistently able to make moral decisions in conformity with the ethical principles, which the student uncompromisingly upholds.

It is our conviction that by working through the curriculum of this programme, students will arrive at an understanding of the dynamic role they are called upon to play in constructing a peaceful, just and unifies global civilization and will become actively engaged in developing the moral capabilities, qualities, skills and habits needed to secure personal and social change.

Abdu'l -Baha describes the period of youth in these words:

After a time he enters the period of youth in which his former conditions and needs are superseded by new requirements applicable to the advance in his degree. His faculties of observation are broadened and deepened, his intelligent capacities are trained and awakened, and the limitations and environment of childhood no longer restrict his energies and accomplishments.

The period of youth is characterized by strength and vigor and stands out as the choicest time in human life. Therefore you should strive day and night so that endowed with heavenly strength, inspired with brilliant motives and aided by His celestial power and heavenly grace and confirmation; you may become the ornaments of the world of humanity..

As described in the above quotation by Abdu'l- Baha, the period of youth is a nice time when the potential of development and progress is great. During so critical period, education and encouragement can empower youth to take responsibility of their lives and their surroundings and 'become the ornaments of the world of humanity'.

Junior youth is capable of thinking deeply about the world and their place within it and those they need a positive environment that gives them support and encouragement and their talents and opinions to be highly valued and allowed to develop.

In India on January 12th of every year the birthday of the great philosopher Swami Vivekananda is celebrated as the National Youth Day. Swami Vivekananda always believed in the power and dreams of the youth and he wanted every youth of the country to encourage and nourish the historical culture of the nation as well as bring about advancement in them according to the changing modernization.

Youth day should be celebrated in all the schools. Speeches should be delivered on the occasion to enlightening the youth to strive hard and in the right direction to achieve success.
